What is RAS farming

Fish farming on land is one of the most ancient farming methods; it has been found in multiple historic places worldwide. For example, in ancient Egypt 3000 B.C., some drawings in the houses of the Egyptian kings are for fish farming in artificial ponds. Then it has been developing over the years as a sustainable source of food. Still, farming methods changed over time, and sea cages were introduced. It was a huge advantage, and revolutionary since cage farming in open water added a high fish density in the same area. But it had different drawbacks since it began harming the environment with colossal fish waste, which led to the cultivation of sea lice on the fish, and the cages sometimes break. So fish go out, leading to an imbalance of the wild fish environment. So a solution had to be made, then RAS farming was introduced to fish farming with sustainability in mind. RAS (Recirculated Aquaculture System) farming uses indoor areas on land. Without interacting with the outer world, they are farmed in tanks. So basically, what happens in the tank stays in the tank, using different filtration methods to control Algae and remove fish waste. Within 30 minutes, the whole water in the system is recirculated, reducing disease transmitted between fish. If something terrible happens to one of them, we will lose all the fish instantly, which means it has to be highly monitored and controlled to reduce these incidents.
